The Akron Pride Festival is much more than just a celebration of diversity or a day to get the LGBTQ+ community together.  It’s also an opportunity to reach out to the larger community in our area by providing an opportunity for the city to see us, meet us, and (most importantly) get to know us as people and neighbors who have many of the same ambitions, troubles, and joys as everyone else. We believe that the best way to advance equality and tolerance of differences is through social interaction and familiarity.

The APF Drag Crawl Returns on Saturday, July 23, 2022!

Join Akron Pride Festival, Akron’s local LGBTQ+ bars, and 12 of our local drag artists for the third annual Drag Crawl!

Buses will pick Drag Crawl participants up at the Interbelt Nite Club and take you on a crawl to Cocktails, Tear-Ez and Square Nightclub before ending the evening back at the Interbelt Nite Club for a show you won’t want to miss!

Teen Pride Night - June

What is Pride to you? During June's Teen Pride night we are going to be exploring pride through writing.

The evening will begin with an informal discussion about the attendees’ and volunteers’ previous experience, comfort level, and familiarity with poetry. Once we’re all acquainted with one another and the art of the written word, we will invite participants to write about their experience with Pride, both as a month of celebration and a feeling. Participants will be given guided instruction which will lead to their writing a poem of their own.

Participants will be able to share what they have written if they are comfortable doing so. We look forward to celebrating the writer in everyone! You do not need to identify as a writer to enjoy this program!

Teen Pride Night is open to all LGBTQIA youth and their allies.

The Rainbow Ball is back! Step into the historic Akron Civic Theatre to benefit Akron Pride Festival.

General Admission $100 entry includes: party food by Moe’s Restaurant, open bar, DJ, NYE dance party, drag artists, and local entertainment. A photo booth, fabulous midnight celebration, and party wear.

Join FitCamp for a FREE, hour-long POUND® class benefiting the Akron Pride Festival from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.

About this event

This high energy, cardio class is good for all fitness levels and abilities. While the class is free, we will be collecting donations for the Akron Pride Festival which will take place in downtown Akron on Saturday, August 28.

Equipment Needed:

- If you have your own drumsticks please bring them with you.

- Sanitized Ripstix® (drumsticks) will be available for anyone who does not have their own.

Pre-registration is encouraged as space is limited.

Free parking is available in the Cascade Parking Deck. There is also street parking available on Bowery and Quaker Streets.

All participants must agree to the Liability Waiver. The waiver can be reviewed here:

Downtown Yoga benefitting the Akron Pride Festival

Join Yoga Squared for a FREE, hour-long Yoga class benefiting the Akron Pride Festival from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at Lock 3.

While the class is free, we will be collecting donations for the Akron Pride Festival which will take place in downtown Akron on Saturday, August 28.

Pre-registration is encouraged as space is limited, but on site registration will be allowed.

Parking is available in the State Street Parking Deck and costs $2, or at metered spaces on Main Street and surround streets.

APF Scavenger Hunt

Hey all in the Akron LGBTQ+ and greater community! Let's engage and have some fun, since we cannot all gather at Hardesty Park this summer. We've created an APF Virtual Scavenger Hunt to get everyone up from the couch away from bingeing Netflix or Hamilton or any other mindless activity. Grab those cell phones and get out there!

What is it: A virtual scavenger hunt is just like the traditional scavenger hunt in that you have a list of clues leading you to a real object. Instead of collecting the real object, you snap a pic of said object and load that pic to an app online and compete with individuals and teams to find all 30+ items. Once you have found all the objects you can and loaded the pics online, the APF team will score the entries and declare a winner and runners-up and award some prizes.

We will give updates along the way! Work hard to get as many clues as possible!
Prizes include APF Merch, Drag Show, Drag Crawl and MEET and GREET opportunities for the 2021 Akron Pride Festival!

When: You (or your team) will have from August 14 to August 23, 2020 to search out the objects, snap the photos and upload them to the app. The APF team will keep the Leader Board updated on the APF FaceBook page here.

How: Follow the steps to get started:
Go to your favorite App Store and download Goose Chase to your phone or computer
Open the app and create a profile/account there.
Search for the APF Virtual Scavenger Hunt to download the list of clues
Put on your Pride thinking cap and figure out what the clue is leading you to.
Get out in the community and snap the pics of the objects best answering the clue.
When you have found all the objects you can, upload the pics to the Goose Chase app to enter the prize pool.
You can upload the pics, save and then revisit the clues and change pics throughout the Scavenger Hunt time window; no pics can be uploaded after 11:00P on August 22, when the APF Virtual Scavenger Hunt closes
The APF team will select the winner and runners-up and announce on the APF Facebook page; arrangements will be made to distribute the prizes

Where: The APF Virtual Scavenger Hunt list includes objects and sites that can be found throughout the greater Akron area. Some clues point to objects in Akron, some in other cities/locales outside of Akron, but all are within Summit County. Use your best deductive skills to figure out the clues and what best represents the clue.

Clues will be revealed on Goose Chase! Get out into the community, throw on some acceptable clothes for public viewing (PJs don’t cut it), and get out and snap those pics! Remember, this is all in fun and meant to pass some time outdoors during this pandemic time. Good luck and get snapping!
